A small, but notable change is coming to one of Mitchell's most prominent summer events.

Mitchell Main Street & Beyond announced Wednesday that its "hit summertime event" will move from the first Thursday of the summer months to the first Friday. What was once known as Downtown Thursday — and temporarily as Downtown Thirstday — will now be known as 1st Fridays on Main.

The first 1st Friday on Main will be held on May 4, and will still be held on the Corn Palace Plaza south of the city's signature tourist attraction. The event will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. May through September.

According to the press release from Mitchell Main Street & Beyond, "Event goers will enjoy live musical entertainment, food vendors, activities and games for both adults and children."

Event plans are being finalized and will be released to the public in April. Mitchell Main Street & Beyond asks those looking to "get involved" call 990-4500 or visit www.mitchellmainstreet.com.
