Lake Andes woman arrested for entering home, threatening man with knives
LAKE ANDES — A Lake Andes woman was arrested on Jan. 6 for allegedly threatening people with knives and entering a home without permission.
Forty-year-old Leaona Doren, armed with two knives, allegedly approached a man working on a vehicle in his yard, looking for someone named Heather. The man began to walk into the house and told Doren she could not enter the house, but she entered anyway and threatened to kill the man, according to court documents. The man said he does not know Heather.
Doren proceeded to walk around the house before eventually leaving.
Police approached Doren at her home, where she was placed under arrest for first-degree burglary and aggravated assault.
First-degree burglary is a Class 2 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to 25 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a Class 3 felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
