Presho library expansion in the works following a $300K donation
PRESHO — After receiving a $300,000 donation, Presho city officials are in the process of finalizing plans for an expansion to the town's library.
Willed to the city by the late Everett Turca, Presho City Council Building Committee Member Colby Brakke said the city is excited for the possibility of expanding the facility's children's area and adding a meeting and classroom area.
"We'll be able to offer a meeting space for people in the local community and have people come in and have that available for meetings," Brakke said. "It will enable the library to expand its mission to have more childrens activities."
A public meeting concerning the proposed project will be held Thursday at the library to gather input from the community, and if it goes well, Brakke said the project will likely move forward and officials will begin securing the services of a designer.
As of Friday, the amount of space the project would add, potential timeline and approximate cost were not available, Brakke said, as preliminary designs had not been presented.
But that's not stopping Brakke from looking to the future.
"We're excited to be able to have this addition, serve the community and especially the youth," Brakke said.
