LETTER: The taxpayers are watching
To the Editor:
I cut two articles out of The Daily Republic recently. The first one: "$80 million in claims from the bankruptcy of the Northern Beef Packers won't be paid to businesses, investors, government entities and others." Government entities, I guess that means us the taxpayer.
The second article I cut out was, "The South Dakota Board of Economic Development awarded a Minnesota utility company one of the largest economic incentives ever made by a South Dakota state government agency." And who is that? I guess that means us, the taxpayer.
This time it's $8,187,266, yes, over $8 million of our taxpayer money is being given to an out-of-state company to build a wind farm which can't even think about surviving without more taxpayer money, the federal Production Tax Credit, which again, is our money. They are 35 percent efficient at best. Plus it will ruin the quality of life for thousands of rural residents in Codington County. So when I hear the bureaucrats complaining revenue is down, it's hard for me to understand how they can dole out millions of taxpayer dollars to these corrupt scams time after time and think that nobody is watching.
