LETTER: SD delegation contributing to Trump's behavior

(metro creative)

To the Editor:

The recent revelations of Michael Wolff's book "Fire and Fury" only serve to confirm what the majority of Americans already know about Donald Trump — a man who is distracted, detached, and dysfunctional holding the highest elected office in the country. Serious questions exist about

Trump's emotional state and cognitive abilities.

The true scandal, however, is the Republican Congress' unwillingness to confront an Executive unfit for duty. The culprits include South Dakota's delegation. When Trump recently tweeted what can at best be described as an adolescent taunt at North Korean leader Kim Jung Un threatening nuclear holocaust, John Thune responded that was "just Trump being Trump." Has

the bar of acceptable Presidential behavior sunk that low, Senator? Nuclear weapons are not toys.

I would like to remind Senators Thune and Rounds and Congresswoman Noem that you took an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States, not a loyalty oath to Donald Trump. The President's willingness to sign anything this Congress puts in front of him is not a legitimate reason to ignore Trump's erratic, dangerous, and corrupt behavior. History will not

look kindly on your complicity, cowardice, and contempt for the rule of law.
