Chargers sweep Tiger volleyball

Briar Cliff University continued its hot start to the season Wednesday night, running its volleyball record to 10-0 with a three-set sweep over Dakota Wesleyan at the Corn Palace in Great Plains Athletic Conference play.

Set scores were 25-16, 25-9 and 25-20.

The Chargers hit .309 on the attack and were paced by 15 kills from Courtney Schafer and 11 kills from Emily Sanburg. Breanne Hankins had 16 digs and Wagner native Brooklyn Tolliver had 12 digs for BCU.

For the Tigers, Becky Frick had seven kills, and Freeman native Chelsey Heeg had six kills, as DWU hit .029 for the match. Bridgett Knobbe had 20 set assists and Frick and Lyman grad Sara Herman each had 10 digs.

DWU (11-5, 1-1 GPAC) plays at Grace (Neb.) at 7 p.m. Friday in Omaha, Neb.
